Hi there,

I think we had made an error on question 10 on IMM0008. My wife was from Hong Kong and she is currently stay with me in Canada with a visitor visa. We submitted our family sponsorship application last week but realized later that she put her "current residence" as her home country (Hong Kong) instead of Canada by mistake.

Is there any way to let the Visa Office know or somehow fix the mistake? Would the immigration officer rejects our application because there is an error in the application? My wife had proven by supporting documents (photos, letters, etc) that she is currently reside in Canada.

Thanks.

astro

I don't think you made an error. She is a visitor to Canada so that is not her home address. Her home address is her native country. But I am not an expert, hopefully someone else can confirm or deny.

Also you can email them to update your application but they probably haven't opened it and won't for a little while.

To me, the question is asking "Current Country of Residence", does it mean the "current" place that my wife is staying at this moment? This would be Canada rather than Hong Kong, isn't it???

I am confused...

Country of Residence is where you live, not where you are visiting. Like if I go to Italy for 3 months to visit a relative (I wish) my address would still be in California, where I currently live.

That's not an error, that's correct :) If you were applying inland, then it would have to be the Canadian address :)

Thanks parker24. The thing I am concerned about is we applied outland and my wife is staying with me in Canada waiting for the result. Does that matter?

There are quite a few forumers here who stay in Canada while their application is being processed outland.

Just don't let her visitor's visa expire.
