Hi Everyone,

The PR card of my parents expired in 2014 (2009- 2014) was the validity of the card. They have spent 3 months in 2009 and stayed for 13 months from April 2013 to May 2014. They are now coming to Canada next month (after a gap of 2 years+). Since their PR card is expired they are coming via USA as my brother lives there. We are going to be driving in a private vehicle. I called CIC and confirmed that Landing Paper can be used.

I learnt that there are two possibilities one is they could be let in without any questions being asked and the 2nd is they could be let in for 30 days with a removal order. Is there any other scenario that can happen? The other problem here is they need to travel outside Canada in the month of May to USA. What is the best way for me to navigate through this issue.

I think one the questions the CBSA would ask is how long your parents are outside Canada.

Agreed, and lets say worst case scenario they are given a removal order and we appeal the order. Can they travel outside Canada to like US etc while the appeal is in progress?

If they are reported for RO it's not advisable for them to leave Canada for a while. It looks bad and adds to the proof they don't take the price ledge seriously. It would likely work again stem at an appeal hearing.

What happens when you get an entry with RO in 30 days? What does that mean. I have a PR but i have been in usa since 2011 and on/off been to canada. Dint fulfill my PR requirements. I have my landing document. Will i be allowed entry in canada using my private vehicle.

As a PR you would be entitled to enter the country regardless whether you have met the residency obligation or not but it is likely that you will be reported if you have failed the RO and subject to appeal the process to revoke your PR status will be started. Any reason why you do not have a PR card even an expired card ?

I do have an expired PR card (expired in 2016). So cant use that to enter. I was planning to enter using landing document and this time i dont want to leave. I was planning to stay in canada till i filfull all my RO. But you are saying they can report and revoke my status?? I mean the only other choice is to renounce my status and start from scratch but everyone says not to renounce status on my own...? I have a daughter (us citizen since she was born in usa- a couple of months old) so i dont want to do back and forth and need a solid plan. Once i enter canada, I plan to stay in canada till i get my citizenship. My parents are already canadian citizens (not by birth but due to immigration) so i have a home there.
