Emergency: PR Visas CANCELLED after issuance, flight is next week! Has this happened to anyone?

Hey everyone, I'm in a complete state of panic and I'm hoping someone here has been through something similar or has any advice.

Here's our timeline:

1. We applied for Permanent Residence (FSW).
2. We got approved! We received PPR, sent our passports, and got them back with the shiny PR visas and COPR inside. This was over a month ago.
3. We booked our flights. Following the instructions in the IRCC letter that said "do not make any irrevocable plans like buying flights UNTIL you have your passports and visas," we bought non-refundable tickets for November 22, 2025 (next week!).
4. The bombshell. Out of the blue, we received an email from IRCC stating our visas were no longer valid and had been cancelled. We were told to return the counterfoil documents and wait for a re-assessment.
5. A glimmer of hope? A second email followed, saying the initial decision from September was "cancelled" and a re-evaluation is required. A new decision will be made.

We are utterly devastated and confused. We followed their rules to the letter and now we're facing a massive financial loss and our entire move is in jeopardy.

My questions to the community:

• Has anyone EVER experienced this? A full cancellation after visas were physically placed in your passports?
• Does anyone know what could possibly trigger this? We are wondering if it's a system error.
• What can we do? We've sent webforms, but time is running out. Our flight is in days.

I have no similar experience but not unheard of. Some people were denied entry even visa was granted and later cancelled. This probably a better situation than arriving at the border only to find that one's visa was cancelled (or simply denied entry) and had to get a flight to leave the country on the same day. What a waste of time and money!

In your shoes, I would probably consult a lawyer to seek IRCC's compensation.

I have no similar experience but not unheard of. Some people were denied entry even visa was granted and later cancelled. This probably a better situation than arriving at the border only to find that one's visa was cancelled (or simply denied entry) and had to get a flight to leave the country on the same day. What a waste of time and money!

In your shoes, I would probably consult a lawyer to seek IRCC's compensation.

Very unlikely to receive any to much compensation. Why COPR was cancelled also hasn’t been identified which is a very important part of the story.

Would contact IRCC and order GCMS notes. I would also work with a Canadian immigration lawyer.

Again, your visa is cancelled. They are not valid.

All of that is what you think right now. I gave you reasons for which CoPRs have been cancelled. Even if nothing was changed, plenty of reasons for that to happen. We can all speculate, but getting GCMS/CBSA notes is the thing that you need to do asap. Get a Canadian lawyer.

NOC: 21232. I was qualified due to french. At the time I applied for PR, I had over 10 years of experience but had been unemployed for 2 years.

Very tough to comment but being already unemployed for 2 years when you applied certainly doesn’t help given the job market for software developers in Canada at the moment. Could really be anything from concern about your language scores, inconsistencies in your application, not sufficient proof of payment or proof from previous employment, proof of relationship, etc. As we have all recommended contact IRCC , speak to a lawyer and apply for GCMS notes.
