I have sent an inquiry before

the reply was the update letter within 4 weeks

it was a good step to enquire about a delayed file

2 weeks delay are better than no response at all
Did you send the inquiry by email? or did you order CAIPS? Did they reply to you by mail with a letter containing information regarding what stage your file is ?

Thank you PMM.
it looks like I have to do more waiting without asking, I am already tired of the delay in my file processing, I do not want them to make it worse!!

Why not try CAIPS? As PMM said it will not cause any delay to your application.

I do not really understand that why would it cause a delay in your processing time just to reply to a email inquiry?

I am not disagreeing with it, but the rationale for delaying the processing of your case is not enough. Some people have asked them questions and in couple of week get a PPR. I believe all they do is answer the email looking at their computer records, the email really doesn't go to the designated immigration officer, there is someone actually designated for this work.
I agree with you NewYorker, it just makes no sense that the processing of your file will be delayed just because you send inquiry once in the blue moon!! If they want the applicants to stop inquiring, at least they should update the E case once a month. I can not understand why there is an E case link when it is dead since 13 of May!!

hi aspire,
ordering caips is a good decesion but u can send email enquiry ALSO.It will not delay the case.

I agree maple,

I don't think it causes delay in the processing, my question is why, just to review my file and answer an email will cause a delay in processing? Doesn't make much sense. If someone does an inquiry means punish him/her by delaying their process...this is not true, just a rumor may be.

Have you tried sending e mail to them? Can you share your experience? Thanks.

Because if the information requested is not in CAIPS then someone has to physically locate the file and find the requested information. And believe me it won't be a priority.

PMM,

I guess what I am saying is that it will not cause delay in your PR application it will only delay in replying to your inquiry. I thought you mean that it will cause delay in the application process.

If the CAIPS are not available, then it will obviously cause a delay for someone to look at the file and reply the email - So what I meant is the delay is only limited to the inquiry NOT your application process.

Thanks,

Experience is same as others are saying - my file is under Sec Checks... and that's it. The reply was fast and it only took 12 hours to get a reply from CIC via email.

I thought they ask for documents only via mail! Anyway, I like the way you reminded them.

Hi Maple. This is an old post of mine regarding Email to C.I.C. and I still believe in what I said back then.

I have had a couple of replies from them.
In my opinion, all they do is type your B file number into their computer and send you a basic reply based on the information that comes up on the screen in front of them. In other words, if your file says IN PROCESS they will issue you with a pre written email explaining what it means in different words.
On the other hand I could be totally wrong, but judging by the replies I got I think I may be right.

That will be a very smart move maple, I liked that, think I have to do the same. It's safe.
