Email from CIC that PR card renewal needs secondary review

Hi , i wanted to share my case as i've been in the same situation and i found it really helpfull to read all the posts about this topic. Special Thanks to Chrome, Ramik, Brenttristan, Kwtangerine, Tonymiz ....

I just received my PR renewal , here is my timeline:

Application received: October 13, 2015
Processing started: February 17, 2016
Secondary review email : March 4, 2016
PR card received by mail: January 4, 2017

I had a total of 805 days presence at Time of the application. CIC didn't contact or email me , and didn't ask for any additionnal document.

What a relief ! Good luck to you all

I dont understand why People who have over 730 days are panicking if/when they will get their card or not. If you have fulfilled the requirements, dont be scared or tensed. Just wait and u will get it.

Hi,

I would like to add myself this to string as well.

Applied for renewal after 844 days in the country without any vacation I work in a permanent job and pay taxes in Canada.


Timeline
Oct 4th 2016 - PR Card application sent in - returned at a later date in the same month to me because Shoppers Drug Mart took blurry photos.
Nov 14th 2016 - Secondary Review Letter sent from IRCC preliminary review of you application has been completed and gone to into secondary review.


So far they have not requested any additional documents which is suggested in the letter that they might.

My case does not even show up on eCAS if I put the UCI or Application number in, suggesting it isn't even in process yet.

I have phoned CIC up and asked them how long it will take if an application is in secondary review? The agent on the phone said it can take up to 3 years to get a PR card if it's in secondary review. She said if they have not requested documents though yet it is a good sign.

But is it :/ some people on here have had a request for documents 5 months later of the letter.

I think the system is ridiculous!! What kind of system is this... you do your time and they can't process a PR card on time and reading this forum just has me in tears as I am planning on sponsoring my spouse and I already sent in a renewal as my card had already expired :'(

Guys take this in concern:
I recieved SR after 6 months. U people are recieving sr in less than that time. This means, u wont be waiting years for ur renewal if u have fullfilled ur obligations. Stressing over it wont do any better

I'm new to the forum, my secondary review started on July 12, 2016, gone to hamilton office. I called them yesterday and the call Center guy was really nice and did mention that the current waiting time at Hamilton is 8-9 months, and unfortunately I can not do anything to get this process expedited. I did have a couple of short trips to Europe for business and applied after comfortably crossing 800 days. Anyone else here with file moved to Hamilton?
