Hello guys,

Long time lurker first time poster here :)

I am currently completing my citizenship form but i am struggling with the Eligibility period. To give some background:

Landed - April 2014
Eligible period - Oct 2012 to Oct 2017 ( which i included in the application form)

9 c mentions if i lived outside of canada during the eligibility period to which i ticked YES as i was in my home country in 2012. However the the residence of Canada form doesnt seem to be applicable to me - and i am stuck as to what to do now.

Always thought that eligibility period was from the day that i landed to the day i applied. Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks

Wow.. So impressive work. One question for you:
I landed with my family on Nov 2014 and planing to submit my citizenship application around beginning of April 2018.

I had stayed more than 183 days in India during the last four year's before landing on Nov 2014. (i.e; Since April 2014 to April 2018). so i need to submit police clearance certificate, right ?
Is our eligibility date is from Nov 2014 (landed) to April 2018 (applying for citizenship) or is it 5 year's from April 2018 (Applying) ?
Kindly confirm ?
TIA.
Cheers.

The eligibility period is the 5 years before the day you apply, so if you apply on April 1, 2018 the eligibility period starts April 1, 2013.
The police certificate needs to be provided if you spent a total of 183 days or more in one single country, other than Canada, in the four years preceding the day you apply, so between April 1, 2014 and April 1, 2018.

You landed in November 2014, so you will have spent (in the last four years) April 2014 to November 2014 in India. That is more than 183 days, so you will need to request a police certificate from India (a police certificate that is dated after the last time you were in India).
