Me and my partner are getting married next month and planning on going on to Canada for our honeymoon (yes very last minute!).

I'm just in the process of applying for an Electronic Travel Authorisation which I thought was simple until I got to the marital status part - while I'm technically single now, I'll be married by the time I travel.

So my question is should I tick single or married?

Has anyone had experience of this?

no experience this situation but at the time you apply you are single so thats what you put given an ETA is tied to your passport at the time of application. ETA, passport and name on flight ticket should all remain aligned as an ETA is just an authority to travel to Canada by plane. Believe if one or other partner changes family name and passport post marriage a new ETA will be needed

Ahhhh thank you - so because we won't have gotten round to changing anything like passport name etc it'll be ok to keep it like that (single) presumably?

correct given when you apply you are single and ok when you travel you will be married but as long as ETA, passport and flight ticket name still same then whether married or not really not that relevant for an ETA although I guess just is part of a profile build.
