I have submitted an EE FSW application as an outlander (AOR Dec 2015). I am currently in talks with my employer to move me to Canada, and have a few questions:

1) I need a work permit in Canada, so would the process of getting an LMIA affect the EE application? Does the LMIA implicitly have a non-immigration intent can could affect/void my EE application?

2) How much time on an average does it take to get an LMIA?

3) If #2 takes very long (> 6 months), is then it better to just wait for a decision on EE application?

Thanks.

i filed my lmia i got it approved in 12 -13 days.
the initial processing time for lmia is 10 days if it is filed prefectly, however if you make any minor mistake in your application your file will taken out of 10 days processing time and in that case it could takes months to get approved.

since you dont have valid canadian work permit so you you have to pay application fees of $1500

Not sure it would affect your app but you would need to let them know if you get a work permit and move to Canada. With regards to length of time to process an LMIA it's dependent on the application submitted. Ours took 5 mths to come thro but think that was partly due to my husbands HR department dragging their heels in submitting it. If we went by the date the fully completed app was actually submitted (it appears on the letter from Service Canada) then it took around 4 weeks. My husbands was specifically for PR so his company did not have to pay a fee.

Just remember that it's the company that needs to submit the application, not the employee.
