My husband has a visitor visa and he is planning to go to canada by the end of April. Will he be asked to present his return ticket at the port of entry? He is planning to stay there for 4 months. As myself and my son with pr will be landing there on the next day.

He will likely be asked purpose of visit, for how long, maybe where staying and possibly funds if an extended stay/ return travel arrangements

Generally an airline would expect someone to have a return ticket given without one they can challenge someone at home country checkin.

There is never any guarantee will be allowed to stay for any specific amount of time could as a visitor be a couple of weeks could be the default 6 months. no way to predict

With CBSA should always answer questions honestly, do not volunteer information to questions not asked. The fact that your family is completing a PR landing the following day may come up in the CBSA assessment as purpose of visit so be aware of that but only if asked.

For visitors although there is no specific rule it is generally recommend on this forum to be outside of the country for near the same amount of time in the country. So if spending 5 months in Canada then leave and cone back in 5 months.

As said there is no specific rule written by CBSA so is all about what perception CBSA might get of someone spending too much time in Canada possibly living versus being a genuine visitor. Ultimately is a personal decision so no way to predict if would even be an issue or not, maybe nothing to be concerned about at all.

Generaly if someone has a 5-6 month stay they are better off using the apply to extend stay process given that takes 2-3 months to process during which time on implied status and then if approved get time on top of that. So in theory with a full 6 month extension plus the implied could see 8-9 months But no guarantees how long Granted

but if the extension got denied will that person be counted as overstayed/out of status during the implied status, which is like 2-3 months?
