i have a DUI from uk in 2004 I got the statutory 1 year ban and fine. This takes my conviction time to May 05. I have read on many sites that i have to wait 5 or 10 years to re apply but it is not clear which.

I have been with my fiance (canadian) 2 1/2 years and we have cancelled our wedding twice due to this. We are definately marrying in June. Does anyone with a previous "conviction" ever get into Canada?

1. you are not eligible to apply for rehabilitation until 2010. So until then you are inadmissible to Canada as both a visitor and a PR. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/rehabil.asp
