I was born in the US in 1974, my mother is a US citizen but my father was a Canadian citizen ( born there) but living in the US. It is my understanding that I can get dual citizenship because my father was born there. My father has passed away and I'm looking to find out what all documents I will need to find and about how long it takes, do I have to move to Canada before I can apply or can I still reside in the US?

If your father was born in Canada, you are a Canadian citizen now. You don't have to apply for dual citizenship, but if you want to live in Canada, you need to apply for a Canadian citizenship certificate.
