Hello all,

There are several ways to travel to the Dominican Republic without a visa:

• Have a valid Canadian multiple-entry visa.
• Have Canadian Permanent Residence.
• Have a Canadian Refugee Document.
• Have a valid U.S. visa.

If you have any of these documents, you can travel to the Dominican Republic without needing an additional visa.

Planning to travel to DR, my RTD valid for 5 months of when I travel, did anyone have trouble boarding? Worried gate agent will deny boarding because it’s not 6 months..

I traveled with an RTD that had just over three months left and got through fine. The airline checked the Canadian visa more than the RTD itself. For things to do once you land, I found Punta Cana Tours helpful for booking lagoon and buggy trips without any hassle.

I thought the RTD needed at least 6 months’ validity for a visa application. Does the Dominican Republic accept a Canadian RTD with only 3 months remaining? Did you obtain the visa with less than 6 months’ validity, or did you travel under a different entry requirement? Canadian RTD holders can travel to the Dominican Republic visa-free, or is a tourist visa required?
