HI,
One of my friends is doing business foundation (ontario college certificate ) from fanshawe . If he takes another course of one year in saskatchewan or alberta, will he be eligible for a 3 year work permit ? Since he will be completing two years of his studies in canada. Is it have to be the same province or he can do one year course in ontario and another year of a different course in alberta or saskatchewan.?

One need to study for 2 years program if he wants to avail 3year WP..other wise he will get WP of no of years he studied in different colleges in canada
for example if you have completed 1year course from X college and another 1year program from Y college.
Therefore, one can get (1+1)2 year WP in canada

How about for a 16month program( 3 terms +1 co-op term) with continous study. How much duration PGWP will one get....

If the official length of your program of study is:
•less than eight months◦you are not eligible for this program

•less than two years but more than eight months ◦you may get a work permit for a period no longer than the length of your program of study (for example, if you studied for nine months, a work permit may be issued for a period of nine months)

•two years or more◦a work permit may be issued for three years

Dear, Krishna manohar,

Yes, y will received up to 3 years Work permits . If you study constant two (2) years ( 8 months + 8 months = 4 four Semester ),,than you are eligible for up to 3 years work permits. don't worry about Changes of states in Canada . It's applicable for all International students case.

Best of Luck !! :)

Thanks for all the replies guys. :)

Hi,

Got offer letter for Masters in CS - sep 2013( in the offer letter it was mentioned that Typical length of the program is 2 years, but i can complete the course in 1 year). Incase if i take 4 terms and complete the course then could you please tell me my available length of PGWP visa.

Thanks

You can get 3 years PGWP after doing 2 back to back program, but it depends on luck also!!!

A student who take direct 2 years course may get 3 years or 2 years, don't know what are the criteria to get this. According 2 CIC if you study for 2 years you will get 3 years PGWP. But there is no clear definition about 1+1=2 years program. However chk this link you can find your answer-

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2010/ob194A.asp

According to this link the revised program criteria is-

Students holding a one-year graduate degree, diploma or certificate from a participating institution in Canada after having obtained, within the prior two years, a certificate, a diploma or degree from a participating institution in Canada may qualify for a three-year work permit. This exception also applies to students who have left Canada temporarily between programs of study.

Can anyone answer this question -

"How about a 2 year program with 3 semesters and 2 or 1 co-op terms. Will that fetch a 16 months WP or 3 years?"
