So now that I called CIC and got my Application # (even though no AOR or UCI # yet) I'm curious...

I read that Family Class Applications all start with F for Family....

Mine starts XF000......

Does anyone else have that? Or know if it means anything of any significance?

Re: Application Number?

I mean I know there are these notes you can order to see what’s been going on with your file, and there are all these letters and numbers codes that mean things…..

So I’m just curious to know if everyone else applying Family Class has their file numbers beginning with XF as opposed to just F (which I was told is how most Family Class Application Numbers begin)

You do have an UIC number if you are the applicant. It is written on your visitor/student/work visa if you have it. If you came from a visa exempt country, then I think you would have to wait until you get AIP since you are not likely given a visitors record when you came in.

I am not the Applicant. I am the Sponsor. Was born and raised here, so no UCI. When I called CIC she said none has been issued yet for me, but was able to provide me this Application Number.

Do most ppl not receive Application Numbers, only UCI's???

Hi ACS, perhaps if you can clarify - above you said you called CIC and "got" your application #. So I am guessing you mean you have submitted your application and have not received anything back in writing yet? Seeing as you only submitted your application on Aug. 13, if my first guess is correct :) my next guess is that when you do receive your sponsor approval in writing, the X will not appear in front of your application number.

You are correct that most Family Class Applications start with F000 and then a number. However I would not be too concerned ( I do not think it is significant) about the X if you have not received anything in writing. Did you ask the call center agent? Lastly have you tried to log onto ecas with your application number?

Everyone will get an UCI once AOR is issued. The sponsor will be given an UCI number. I was given an UCI once I gotten AOR, I'm the sponsor too.

The AOR doesn't even contain the applicant UCI number. Just the sponsor.

If you are looking for the applicant's UCI, it is written in the visitor record or work visa or study visa. Whatever the applicant holds.

In our case, the sponsor and applicant UCI numbers were sequential. Our file started with an F.

Hi Screech, I am the Cdn sponsor and my husband is the overseas (outland) applicant and we each received an AOR (at different times during the process) along with individual UCI numbers (listed in the AOR e-mails) in addition to our application number. So when I was approved as sponsor (stage 1 AOR) I received my UCI number and our file application number. When my husband received AOR as applicant (Stage 2), he received a different UCI number. The OP has only recently submitted the application and I am speculating that it may be in the system with a file number but no AOR sent to him as sponsor yet. Is it is done differently inland vs. outland?
