Does work experience BEFORE GRADUATION adds points?

Hi friends,

I have freelance / part time work experience BEFORE and WHILE studying my bachelors degree, if provided enough proof, do these all count as skilled experience ?

Or it is just the experience after graduation which counts?

Regards

We had basically this exact same thread yesterday, and the answer has not changed since then.
If you are applying for CEC, this work experience does not count.
If you are not applying for CEC, this work experience does not count if it was accrued in Canada.
If you are not applying for CEC, this work experience counts as long as it was accrued anywhere but Canada.

I am looking to apply under either FSW or PNP

Then the work experience will count, yes- as long as this work experience was not accrued in Canada.

As long as you didnt work in canada, but somewhere abroad, you will be fine. Just make sure you can get a proper employment letter with all the required information in it to be able to show proof of employment.

great thanks, i was and still residing outside Canada, but was working for clients around the world as a freelancer. I am wondering if i should have work experience letter from specified clients or i have to show proof that i worked that much hours of time at a whole, if the former is the case, then i will not be able to collect letters from hundreds of freelance clients!!

Thats IRCC's take on self-employment:

if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).

Obviously, it is more work to have enough proof for self-employment, so the more dicumentation you can provide the better it is.

Hi, I just need clarification with regard to "work exp outside Canada."

If I'm under open work permit for 2 years as accompanying/dependent spouse/partner and worked, say, as a caregiver for two years, that has no bearing for EE application? Or were you just talking about the self employed part? Thanks!

The previous quote from IRCC only applied to self-employment.

If you have two years experience in Canada, sure, you can use that to claim points as well as long as you have the proper documentation for it.

You're fine, the discussion here is only relevant to the question about work experience pre graduation.

How about if the work experience is when you are under "implied status" waiting for the PGWP, that counts for EE?

What is your source for this information? Why would it not count in CEC? The rules for what experience gives you points are identical for FSW and CEC. The only difference are the conditions for qualifying one-year experience.

Hi, Thanks for the information. Would you please give some reference/source clarifying that the experience gained outside Canada before the bachelor degree, counts as work experience even when the NOC mentions the job requirement as bachelor degree ?

Situation:
NOC 1112: Employment requirement bachelor degree
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Professional Exams passed in 2009: No ECA available for this.
Gained experience (outside Canada) in 2010-2013 and received Associate membership in 2013: ECA counts this associate membership as 4 years bachelor degree

Can the the person claim CRS score for (2010-2013) 3 years or more experience for FSW ?

Thanks a lot
