Does the medical request for PR through common law sponsorship in Canada class considered as AoR ? acknowledgement of receipt ?

I applied for PR through common law sponsorship in Canada class- I am living in canada with my husband.

I applied for PR 2 months ago and today i got request for Medical, It does have my File number and UCI number. Can i use that to apply for work permit?

"Once you receive an acknowledgement of receipt (AoR) letter, you can apply for an open work permit. You must apply online."

I am not sure if the medical request is considered as an AOR ?

The sponsor should receive the email for AOR which contains your Application number starting with 'F'.
Ask your husband to check his emails. (spam folder may be)

Some times there is a delay of couple of days. But if you get Medical request, that means your application is already received and has been assigned an application number. It has all the required forms and documents and is to be continue to process which means it has reach AOR.

I was expecting it to be a form or pdf.

Some of the above comments states that this is not an AoR.

The image that you posted shows this:

This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been (wait for it)...RECEIVED.

Pretty much means that is is AOR.

That's what i thought.
However i was expecting a pdf or form with a title "Acknowledgement of receipt".

I wanted to be sure that before i proceed with my OWP application.

Now...here's hoping your PR is processed BEFORE you even get the OWP!

When i sign in to my GCC account using GCKey, I only see options like:

Apply to come to canada
Refugees : Apply for temporary health care benefits
Citizenship: Apply for a search or proof of certizenship
Student: Transfer school

None of them seems to be related to applying OWP within canada.

Any idea how to get started with application ?

You’re a spouse or common-law partner in Canada

You can apply for an open work permit if we’ve confirmed that your application for permanent residence in this class is complete.

Complete was never part of AOR before.


How to recognize the AoR

The AoR letter confirms that an officer has reviewed the application and has found it to be complete.

The AoR letter contains your application number, located on the top left corner of the letter and starting with an F.

So, since the screen shot had a [redacted] application number...does that mean that the application has in fact been deemed `complete'?

Might need to call IRCC and hope you get more info.

I have seen those steps. However I do not get any questions after i sign in to IRCC portal. This is what the portal looks like after signin :

At the bottom, There are some options, I tried to follow "Apply to come to Canada" but the questions were for someone who is applying from outside canada.

I get questions like :

When i click on "Visitor visa, Student and/Or work permit"
It takes me to the Question: "Find out if you're eligible to apply"

I fill that and it does find me eligible toapply for OWP,However, The doc checlist i get is seems to be for someone who is applying from outside of canada. so I am stuck.

I should see (IMM5707 and option to upload marriage certificate) :


Upload supporting documents

    • the AoR that shows that the permanent residence application is complete
  • In the Family Information form (IMM 5707) part of the document checklist, upload
    • the Family Information form and
    • your marriage licence or certificate or the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409)
