Does it matter who pays?

I'm sponsoring my husband for PR. I've paid the fees for my his PR application and open work permit application.... does it matter who has paid the fees, or is it ok as long as they are paid? Thank you!

Apparently It should only be you or your spouse who pays. It doesn't matter which one - as long as its either one of you. Hope this helps... Perhaps others will add their thoughts/experience as well.

It does not matter who pays the fees. Typically it's the sponsor who pays, but the principal applicant can pay them as well.

This is incorrect. Anyone can pay the fees, not just the sponsor or PA.

I paid my RPRF fees using someone else credit card (my friend) and they had no issues. All they asked was whose card did i use because it was not the PA or sponsor own. He said okay!

Doesn't look any better than someone else paying. IRCC doesn't care who pays as long as the payment clears.

I am asking this for a friend. He recently got his PR but havent done the landing. He is planning to get married. I told him to do it before he lands as his finace is in Canada on visitor visa at the momwnt.

He consulted a lawyer and he infact told him to get it after he lands. I am aware that then the option he will left with is spousal sponsership. Lawyer told him that he can get her 2 years open work permit. Is this even legit?

My understanding was that sowp is only for people whose spouse is on temporary visa in Canada. Please correct me if i am wrong.

If he marries her before he lands, then he needs to return his COPR and his visa and add her to his application as his spouse. If he marries her and lands as 'single' anyway he will NEVER be able to sponsor her to live in Canada with him. So, unless she can qualify to immigrate on her own, marrying and then landing would be a bad idea.

The only option to get her a work permit would be to sponsor her with a family class application via the INLAND route and include the paperwork for an OWP. It would take approximately 4 months to arrive after being submitted.
