Does it help to have a co-signer if you don't need their income?

Hi,

I am about to sponsor my mother to come and stay with us after 2 attempts to have her come and visit us failed. They rejected her vistor visa application on the ground that she does not own a land or have strong ties to back home.

Now, I make enough to qualify to sponsor her by my self. I am married, should I include my wife as a co-sponsor anyway? Will it help speed things up or show family stability etc... According to their chart for 2010 and the number of people that will be in our household when she arrives, my income is enough. Just wonder if I should apply as a sole sponsor or have a co-sponsor anyway. Will that hurt or help?

Thank you.

Pre-Assessed..
If your income alone is enough, your spouse is optional as co-signer.

Thank you steaky. I know this is going to take a long time, so here I go, I'm about to start the application process.
