Yes, of course you need to fill it! TRV form is for the visa whereas rest of the forms are for your study permit, if you're an Indian passport holder, you need both visa and study permit to enter and stay in Canada.

You THINK??? Of course you need to fill the schedule 1 form!!! If you're an Indian passport holder, you do! The SPP checklist is for your study permit, not your visa!!! The schedule 1 form is for the TRV(temporary resident visa). There's a difference between the two! Study permit gives you permission to study in Canada whereas you need TRV to enter Canada. In fact the stamp you get in your passport, that's a TRV stamp, you only get your study permit once you land in Canada!

If you're an Indian citizen and your agent is telling you that you don't need to fill the schedule 1 form, you need to change your agent ASAP!!!

Are you talking about the Study permit application form or the Spp checklist? By the way, I have checked both and I did not understand what you wanted to me look for. Please do explain.

Here's the link where it says you need a temporary resident visa if you are from a country on the list. And, obviously India is one of the countries we don't have the visa exempt status from Canada.

I am almost amused because I have been through this process, I AM in Canada right now on a study permit, I think I know what I am talking about!!!

Yes, that applies to people who come from a visa exempt country and would not otherwise need a TRV to enter Canada. If a citizen of such country answers 'yes' to any of the questions mentioned, then even they have to fill the schedule 1 form. But, Indians are required to fill up that form anyway!!! Check the link I have sent you.
By the way, the stamp that you get in your passport, that's the VISA!! You get a study permit which is a big piece of paper once you LAND in Canada. But, if you come from India without a visa stamp in your passport, the immigration staff won't even let you board the flight!
