Hi, i'm a canadian citizen and i met a girl from Mexico that was here on a tourist visa, she received a job offer with LMIA, they are gonna do the Online Work Permit Application, if we plan on getting married while it's in process, would if affect her chance? Is that a bad look for her to get married while waiting on approval for work permit?

Thanks

Getting married while a work permit application is in process, especially when the person applying for the work permit is in a relationship with a Canadian citizen, can sometimes raise questions from immigration authorities. However, it's important to note that marriage itself is not a negative factor in the immigration process, and many couples do get married while a visa or permit application is pending.

Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Genuineness of the Relationship: Immigration authorities may scrutinize the marriage if they suspect that it's not a genuine relationship and is being used solely for immigration purposes. If you and your partner have a legitimate relationship, this shouldn't be a major concern. Providing evidence of your relationship, such as photos, communication records, and any other documents that show the genuine nature of your relationship, can be helpful.
  2. Timing: If you get married shortly after the work permit application is submitted, it might raise some eyebrows. However, if you have a pre-existing relationship and decide to marry during the application process, you should explain the circumstances and reasons for the marriage.
  3. Communication: If you decide to get married while the work permit application is pending, it's important to communicate openly with immigration authorities. If your relationship is legitimate and you can provide evidence of that, it's unlikely that the marriage alone will negatively impact the application.
  4. Honesty: Always be truthful and transparent in your communication with immigration authorities. If you decide to get married, make sure to disclose it if there is any follow-up or additional information requested.
  5. Legal Advice: Immigration laws and regulations can be complex and can vary depending on the specifics of your situation. It's a good idea to consult with an immigration lawyer or consultant to get personalized advice based on your circumstances.

In summary, getting married while a work permit application is in process is not inherently a bad look, as long as the relationship is genuine and you're transparent about it. If you're concerned about how it might affect the application, consider seeking legal advice to ensure you're making informed decisions throughout the immigration process.
