Does correction of vision become a problem in medicals

Hi,

I just did my medicals today and they asked me to read a few really small letters which I was not able to. The doc sent me for a consultation with the eye doctor and she gave me the measurement values for correction. This is the first time I am realizing that I have long sight. Other than that, no other issues. Anyway, long story short, would that be an issue for the purpose of immigration ? I would appreciate any input.

Should not be an issue.. i also have bad eye sight and have passed 2 medicals before as international student to Canada.. I have friends with terrible eye sight and cleared the medical.. so no worries

Should not be an issue.. i also have bad eye sight and have passed 2 medicals before as international student to Canada.. I have friends with terrible eye sight and cleared the medical.. so no worries

I also came as a student but there were no eye checks for me when I did medicals for student visa. I extended my work permit in Canada and the medicals for that also did not had an eye check. I think it is only for PR applications, anyway it was the first for me and I was shocked when I was sent for an additional consultation with the opthalmologist.

Not to worry. I realized I needed glasses (at least for driving) a couple of years ago. I realized that I was able to read signs a lot later than everybody else around me. While my prescription is minimal, I brought my glasses to the medical and the doctor just took note of this. It did not affect my medical at all - I received my COPR shortly after the medical results had been received by CIC.

You need to understand the reasons why medicals are done:
1. To ensure new residents are not suffering from a contagious disease (thus protecting current citizens and residents)
2. To ensure new residents are not suffering from a disease that is very costly to treat/monitor (protecting OHIP and ultimately the taxpayers)
As you know, bad eyesight is neither of the two. Glasses/contacts are not covered by OHIP anyway.
Just relax.
