Does Canada notify "old country"?

Anyone know if Canada notifies the "old country" when Canadian citizenship is issued?
Or is this on a case-by-case basis depending on countries they have agreements with?

I don't think they do. Old country might request the information though. I once knew a German woman in Canada and she said every time she renews her German passport, it takes forever because they must check that she hasn't gotten Canadian citizenship yet.

Why would it take forever, All my country checks before issuing the passport is whether I have a PR card. If I have a PR Card I am not citizen yet.
