Does a study permit application within Canada give implied status?

Hi there,

I have a predicament. I am approaching the end of my two year IEC visa. I would like to stay and travel in Canada until early June - five weeks after my IEC expires. I know I need to complete a visitor visa form that will put me on implied status.

However, I am also applying for a study permit for a program beginning September 2019. My question is whether applying for a study permit now will also grant me valid implied status until I leave in June. I would then activate my Study Permit upon returning in August.

Any help or literature here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Far too early to apply for a study permit. Just apply to change your status to visitor.
