I just submitted a stack of documents requested by CIC in support of my application under the federal entrepreneur class and was wondering how long I should wait before applying for a fresh set of caips notes which will show data regarding these documents.

I got the following in an email from CIC, can anyone give an idea of how long this part of the process may take?

""When the above documents are received, the file will be assessed and sent to the officer for review.""

My ECAS status has been "Application Received" for 3 months, does that mean my case is just pending and not currently assessed by visa office? What is the difference between "Application Received" and "In progress"?

I just ordered a Caips note, will the note tell me when my case will be assessed by a visa officer?

Appreciated any of your advice!

The first thing you should understand is that the ECAS information is really somewhat useless. If nothing else it at least puts your mind at ease that they have your application.

Secondly you did not indicate when your application was submitted and under what category you applied so its difficult for anyone to advise you without that information.

My ECAS has been saying "In Progress" since November 2007!!

Regarding CAIPS, depending on when you submitted your application there may be very little information on the CAIPS notes that will be useful.

In my case for example, the last time they requested documents from me in Dec 2011 my B/F date (brought forward date or the date when an officer is scheduled to look at my file again) was June 2012. I ordered CAIPS in February of this year and it still shows a B/F date of June 2012.

So I guess the long and short is that you are trying to get the information that we all so desperately would like to get (when our application may be processed) but it just simply is not available. We all just have to wait around until CIC contacts us or abolishes the backlog in our category as they have done with the FSWP.

Pls, I wish to know when the Passport can be requested after RPRF and Medical, which I did in 30th April.

Your medicals are valid for a period of one year and you must land in Canada before your medicals expire. From reading other posts on this forum and others, it looks like it can take 3 - 6 months to get your passport request..

Congratulations on getting your Medical & RPRF... it means you are close my friend!!

For our benefit, can you give us some details like what category you applied under, which visa office handled your case and when you applied?

That can help some of us who are still waiting to reach the stage you have reached.

@Linda2004 : Well the online status is not that accurate but if it is showing (Documents received) so it means the case is in pending list and not in the processing list of applications,so you have got to HANG ON for a little while !

@Loisneece : My medicals were done in Jan 2013 and still after more than 3 months i have not heard from the VISA OFFICE,so it really is unpredictable but 4 to 6 months for sure !
