Hi all!

I'm a US citizen, applied in February 2015 under common law sponsorship. I have SA and ECAS is at "application received."

Just got an email from CPC-Ottawa now, asking me to confirm my address, and then stating:

"Proof of Residence/Intent to Reside

We wish to ask you at this time to provide proof that your sponsor resides in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, banking history, employment letters, lease agreements, etc. Driver's licences, Property tax assessments, Social Insurance or Health Insurance cards are not sufficient."

We already submitted all of that with our application. Does this mean they don't believe us? We have never left Canada since we started dating, nor do we plan to, and I thought that was clear on our app, so I'm confused why this is what they want. I'll gladly send it all over again, but still... is this normal? Should I be worried?

They also asked me to pay the RPFR fee, which I already did. Does this mean things are coming to a close?!

Thanks for your help!! I am so excited to see that someone is at least *looking* at our app!

They could have misplaced some of the files. It's best to just send it all again, maybe include a few extra things in case they are looking for more proof. I'm not sure why they would ask you to pay the fee again, perhaps call the call centre and check on that? But if they want you to pay the fee, it could be a good sign!

Hi ChellyCat,

I'm in the same boat. US-Can Common-law, although I mailed in my application at the very end of December (may as well think of myself as a Jan 2015 applicant! don't think anyone at CIC was doing much work between Xmas and New Years... :p ).

I just got the same email (along with asking if there was any change (e.g. kids) and address verification.

My guess is that it's just a double-check. At least in my case, the joint lease agreement we signed has ended and we are back to our typical month-to-month agreement with the landlord (the same landlord my partner has been month-to-month with for the past 5 years).

My email also said this:

RPRF (If you have already paid the RPRF, please disregard)
Double-check your email to see if that header appears in yours?

Maybe it's a format letter.
I'm from a different VO and received the same letter when my time came.
Pay attention if there's no "if".

It does say disregard if you already paid the fee, sorry should have mentioned that! I'm just hoping it's a good sign. And worried they want me to resend all those documents I already sent. Hoping that doesn't mean they don't believe me! D:

Hey, my wife and I are in the same boat I just received the same e-mail (January application was received). I have no problem providing proof but I am confused on how to send it, do the require original copies sent via MAIL or can I just PDF scan them and send them to a e-mail address of their?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'll probably do both- email them the info and send a hard copy too. That's what I did with my medical and had no problem. (They never replied to the email lol but that's fine.)

Do you mind help me out with mailing it? lol

The address is the one listed at the bottom of the e-mail I am assuming, but what did you put in the package you sent to let them know it was your application#? My wife and I were going to just write it down on a paper ( Our UCI and App#)

Right, I typed up a short cover letter and explained what I was sending (medical, FBI check, whatever). In the header I included all of our info- our UCI, date of birth, application number.
