Hello

Is it necessary to put N/A for questions that don't apply to me? Or should I just leave it blank?
I left mine blank.

Thanks. But people say even if it doesn't apply to you, you should write NONE or N/A otherwise they will return the application and say it is incomplete. So I am confused.

Makes sense.
The guide says for several sections and questions on both immigrant and sponsor forms (IMM5406, IMM5540 and IMM5669) to put N/A instead of leaving blank. Writing N/A won't hurt the app, whereas leaving blank spots might, so better safe than sorry, just write N/A.

At least one forum member posted that their application was returned as a result of blanks. (Even though those questions were "N/A".

We also put followed the Guide and put N/A everywhere where necessary.

Yes, put N/A on each blank that is Not Applicable to you. Some blanks only accept number so I used a pen to write N/A in those.

That was exactly what my misses and I did as well, with our application. I am sure ten people will come on now and tell me that was wrong, but little to late, the application has been gone for seven months now :D

What about the applications that you can fill out online because they need to be validated? Once you type in an answer to something some areas automatically get shaded in and it doesn't allow you to type anything.. Should I hand write n/a once I've printed them?

No, if the question is shaded, CIC can already see that it doesn't apply to you, so you don't need to write N/A in those.
