Do you have to show funds again after completing course to extend the visa

Hi All,
Its is a big concern for me.i just read it, that after completing the course when your visa gets expired you have to show funds again to extend your visa, when you apply for post graduation work permit..if this is true,then how much and what sort of fund can you show?need advise!
