Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if me and my girlfriend have enough proof to show that we are in a genuine relationship. I am a Canadian citizen living in America and my girlfriend is a Jamaican living in the states illegally and i want to sponsor her to come to Canada and we want to start our application in May. Here are the proofs that we have.

1) Pay-stubs( we worked at the same work place)
2)Receipt for the camera i bought her for Xmas last year)
3)Receipt for the laptop she bought me for Xmas last year)
4)W2s (tax ID)
5)Joint Account that we opened in October 2011
6)Lease (January 2011- January 2013)
7)The stamp in my passport to Jamaica in 2009(where we met)
8)Her stamp in her passport in 2010 when she decided to move to America

9)Receipts for our rent each month
10)Movie tickets for this month
11)Xmas video 2011
12)Pictures(2011 valentines pics, club pics, bowling pics with me, her and my sister and friends, pics at the skating rink, goofy pic of us in our undies(lol).

We are planning on getting NOTARIZED LETTERS from the manager at the work place we used to work and both our parents. Letters from our siblings, cousins and friends.

Will this be enough???????????

Given that she's your girlfriend, are you getting married before applying (if so, consider adding proof of that). If not, and you are applying based on a common law relationship don't forget that CIC requests letters from family/friends that are familiar with your relationship. Consider also adding photos, phone bills to show you talk to each other a lot, and a few more items to substantiate your relationship.

ETA: I see you added your second post while I was posted this one. Do you also have photos from when you met her in Jamaica and perhaps e-mails/letters in addition to phone bills?

We also have posts from our Facebook pages of us showing our love for each other.

No we are not married. We are both 21 and we want to wait before we get married, but we are in love though. We both have NO CONTRACT phones, so we don't receive phone bills.. And all our utilities are included in our rent. It sates that on the lease.

[/quote]I met her in Jamaica 2 days before i came back to the states August 2009. We talked and texted each other after that, until she decided to move to the states. But we don't have anything to prove that we communicate for those 6 months. We both change our phones multiple times and we really didn't know we would need all of this because this wasn't on our mind until i decided i wanted to move back to Canada

I would explain that in a note.

yes we will do that and i think all we really need to prove is at least one year of us living together in a genuine relationship

Exactly - key is to show things beyond a 'roommate' relationship
