For all those who are planning to arrive in Canada soon and/or just arrived, I advise you NOT to get WIND mobile. I was initially attracted by the low prices and the attractive service options, but the coverage is absolutely horrible! I'm getting no signal in my new apartment and moreover, in many places around Toronto, the signal goes off.

Their reason: "Eventhough you are in the WIND coverage area and you live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building downtown (not in a basement), we still haven't constructed towers in certain places around Toronto. So sorry, you will have to wait until we do. This might take at least 6 months." The worst part is, I have to wait until after 3 months of being with WIND to change my service provider to somebody else.

So please take my advice and DO NOT GET WIND MOBILE. It's better to pay a little bit more and get a service provider who actually works - like Rogers or Bell.

I'm sorry to hear about your service.

I just read your post aloud to my partner who works for Bell Mobility. He asked if I could forward it to him so he can show it around the office.

Bad coverage is not the only problem Wind Mobile is having, outrageous inflated bills for extra data and "wind away" minutes, as well as horrible customer support are also an issue.

I got so angry with their practices that I decided to do something about it, so I launched a dedicated site, windmobilesucks.com.

You are not stuck with them though - you should file a complaint with CCTS and get out of that contract, and ask for the refund for the full price of the phone. These complaints take time, but they do have some real effect.

OMG!!! I totally forgot about my Wireless contract ... I have a three year contract with unlimited this and that and many options with Rogers and now if I have to cancel it, I have to pay a huge early cancellation fee up to almost €400 or more to get rid of it.

Any advice on that?

I know many people still uses cell phone plans from their home country (but tariffs still competitive with Canadian companies). Whether or not you are not sure about Canada, you can at least avoid the situation CJ is facing.

I think the author has the problem very well defined. Something has to change.
