Hi guys,

I applied for PR through CEC with valid offer and got acknowledgement letter (it is under process). Because of COVID-19, there is a layoff possibility in December.
I have already started looking for new job but I wonder if it affects when it comes approving a PR.

P.S: Let's assume I have an open work permit.

Thanks.

If you have an open work permit then you don’t have a job offer/LMIA with the 50 points, is this correct? You didn’t get points for job offer. If so you can get another job.

Thanks @Naturegrl for the input and sorry that I seem made a confusion.
I have a closed work permit and ap far working. If I get fired amd find another job, does it affect to my already applied PR?

Did you claim 50 points for having a job offer?

You can still get PR without any problem if your score is more than the cut-off. As the offer of employment is no longer valid in your case, You need to reduce 50 points and see your score is more than draw cut off. If the score is more, then you will get PR without any problem.

I see, it is risky then. My current score is around 470 and if we take 50, it significantly decreases.
What you could advise for this case? Im thinking to find another job but it might take sometime.

I don't think so. Last time it was 462, mine without 50 will be 420.

In that case it's possible this could impact your ability to get PR.

Layoff is NOT termination of employment per say. Be careful of what is happening with your job. Lay off is essentially putting you in leave without pay till business needs you back. My wife was laid off and then taken back again.

When you were invited what was the cut off then? Which round were you invited in?
