My car is still under financing here in US & I will import it early next year in Canada, do I need car title when I ship it to Canada & during registration?!? Will Toyota allow to continue the financing in Canada?

Pls share your experience...thank you!

This comes under the juridical of imports and customs. I have travelled by car inside the US and Canada. There is no problem driving a US car across the border into Canada. But I think your financing will have to be transferred to a Canadian bank, other than that I see no reason why a US car cannot enter Canada permanently.

Inquire with Autosales people and especially car movers. They have a good idea about relocation etc.

Good luck.

In conclusion, the US financier should be willing to transfer the loan to your new bank in Canada. Toyota may or may not be of help, since this is mostly a banking issue. Your title will easily be transfer to the Canada transport authority, since the car is yours. Transfer of finance will have to be worked out. Or you will have to pay the US financier regularly from Canada. Failure to pay will lead to loss of credit score.

1. You have to export the car from the US. To do that you either require clear title or permission from the lender to export the vehicle. See: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/export_docs/motor_vehicle.xml
2. You will need a recall letter from the Manufacture of the vehicle (not the dealer) to show all recalls have been complied with.
3. You have to import the car and it has to be eligible. See: www.riv.ca for the steps.
