Do I need to renew husband's visitor visa after 6months in Canada and we have applied for Inland sponsorship?

Hi everyone,
I have gotten a temporary application number from immigration since Feburary, 2021. Stating that thye have recieved our spouse sponsorship application. My husband came to Canada in Decemeber 2020. What I would like to know is if I need to extend/renew his visitor visa before the 6months is up.

Did you include an OWP in the spousal sponsorship application? If so, that will give him implied status as visitor. If not, then you need to extend his stay.
