hi there
I need some advise how can I get my work permit extended so I don't make mistakes that lead me to get the work permit denied.
here is my situation; My work permit is going to expire in November 6 2009,I have been working here for almost 2 years as a roofer and I want to extend my work permit for 2 more years.
-do I need to have a new offer of work from the company that I work for?
- do I need to have a new LMO?
-will a letter from the company that I work for requesting me to stay here and attached to my applications be enough?
do I need all the above?

What I am seeing is that you do need a positve LMO even if you are applying for a work permit extension. I saw on the CIC/Service Canada website that this is taking at least 4 months. You would not be able to get a WP any other way.

Yes you do need a new job contract and a positive LMO......to extend your work permit. You can send an application and pay with your new contract and wait for the LMO to send later and this will give you an implied intent and able you to stay and work in your job until your new WP is approved.

You have to do it BEFORE the work permit expires... Can I say "hurry"?

This will be difficult, because you do need a new LMO and to get one, your employer has to demonstrate that they attempted to hire a Canadian ...
