Do I -have- to land next time I enter Canada, or can I wait for another trip?

Hi everyone,

My PR is confirmed and the next step is landing, but I've had a confusing situation come up. I live in Canada on a BOWP but decided to land when re-entering the country (instead of an in-Canada landing) because I have a trip planned for the end of Feb. Seemed like the easier option.

However, now my work wants to send me to a conference in the US a couple weeks before my trip, and I'm worried that if I landed when coming back from this instead, I couldn't get my PR card or an emergency PR card in time to have for my original trip.

I had the idea that maybe I could just not land when I come back from the conference, and wait two weeks to do it on the way back from the trip. Does anyone know if that's possible, or do you have to land the next time you enter the country?

Are there any options here that I'm not aware of?

Thanks.

Are you from a visa exempt country? If so, there should be no problem with you landing the 2nd time only.
Just be sure to do it before your COPR expires
