I am applying for permanent residency sponsored by my Canadian husband. I was also going to apply for a work permit and I feel I may have misunderstood how this works. Do I have to have a job offer first in order to apply for an open work permit?

If you are being sponsored inland then you can apply for an open work permit meaning no job offer required.

If applying through Outland sponsorship there is no work permit option. You would need an employer to sponsor both an LMIA and a job offer separate from your spouse PR application.

Thank you!
