Do I have to be employed through accounting firm under NOC 1111?

Hello everyone,

I believe I am qualified for most the job duties under NOC 1111 financial accountant, but now I am working as a retail accountant in a large Canadian based retail/wholesale company, on NOC 1111 it says "Financial auditors and accountants are employed by auditing and accounting firms throughout the private and public sectors", does that mean I am not qualified for NOC 1111 because I do not work at an accounting firm?

I think you misunderstood the NOC issue.


Pyou have to choose the NoC that matches your work experience, no matter what education or degree you might have. You could have a degree in physics, but if your work experience is retail, that is the NOC you have to go with.

So your choice of primary NOC entirely depends on what your actual job duties are not not on your qualifications. Those same job duties then also have to be mentioned in your employment letter.

There is no advantage to choosing one NOC over another as far as CRS points go, so make sure to choose the one that will match your employment letter and actual job duties.
