Hi,

I am married with a child.

If I apply for my dependents as well, I need to show a lot of funding which I cannot do at the moment.

Can I just list them in the application form but not apply for them so that I need to show funding only for myself and later on I can show needful funding or sponsor them once I get settled down in Canada.

Kindly guide me through.

Thanks,
Ragu

No - you can't.

You must have enough proof of funds to cover yourself and your dependents (3 people total) - even if they aren't coming to Canada with you. If you don't have enough proof of funds to cover both yourself and your dependents, then you don't qualify to apply.

Thanks for reply.

What if I do not want them right now but will want them in a year's time. Can I sponsor them or pull them in as dependents. I am not lying to the immigration because I declare I am married and have a child on the application form. In addition, there is an option on the application form that I can just declare the dependents and I can select the option I do not wish to apply for them.

Please help.

It doesn't matter. You need to have POF to cover yourself and your dependents if you want to apply - even if your dependents aren't coming to Canada with you.

There is no other option.

If you want to apply - you need to have POF to cover your entire family.

I will show the funds for my dependents too even if I am not taking them with me.

Please can you clarify is that possible if I apply PR only for myself right now showing funds for my dependents too, can I apply visa for my dependents once I get settled down in Canada in a year or two.

FYI, We are married for 4 years now and my child is almost 3 years old. Kindly clarify if it is possible to apply for them from Canada once I get a decent job.

Yes - it's certainly possible. However it can take quite a long time to sponsor your dependents and you will have to be living in Canada while this application is processed. So if you decide to only get a PR visa for yourself for now, you should be prepared for the possibility that you will be separated from your family for months or even years.
