Hi everyone,

I am planning on sponsoring my wife from South Africa. My friend told me that I should just go to a settlement worker at the YMCA in the city, but I have also heard that settlement workers have limitations on what they can do for you (filling out forms, submitting application, etc) and what they can advise on. More generally, I am concerned about their knowledge of immigration law (they are settlement workers, after all, which seems to speak more to what happens after you immigrate and are landed in Canada).

So I am hoping someone can elaborate on the limitations of settlement workers: what can they do? what can't they do? I basically want someone to handle my entire application and am wondering what the best choice is.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

If you want someone to handle the entire application, expect to pay several thousand dollars to a consultant or lawyer.

Or just do as the vast majority of us have done and complete the app yourself.
