Didn't show up at refugee hearing. getting married this sunday. Please Help!

You are in deep doo-doo. The IRB will now hold a show cause hearing for the abandonment of your claim. If you are found to have abandoned your claim, then the removal order becomes effective. You better show up for the show cause, which you will probably lose on the basis of bad advice.

If they deny your original claim, and a deportation order is called, memory fails me, but there is a period of time you will not be able to come back to canada [in order to be sponsored by a spouse etc...].You really need some sound legal advice by a LAWYER, and if you can't afford one, you should look to the local Immigrant Services in your area, or Legal Aid. Did you have a lawyer assisting you in your refugee claim?

No, getting married will not "save" you. If the deportation order stands, you can and will be deported. Get yourself a better lawyer.

it's really hard to interpret what is going on without a complete picture...maybe if you typed in teh letter verbatim, it would be easier to know what the hearing is about, and what they are actually requesting - obviously omit your name, dob, file number from the letter [anonymize the letter] but the contents would be helpful in knowing better what they are actually telling you, in order to give you our advice or suggestions - which are just that, suggestions, you still should seek better counsel.

I was also going to say indefence of Ariell [and other readers here] - not that she needs it, but you yourself, suggested your case was hopeless, you didn't show up for the hearing, and you are getting married. You don't provide any formidable details, give us scant information, we can only go on what you tell us - and even as I suggested your intentions seem very coincidental that you are marrying so close to your hearing being avoided - BUT only you can give the full picture (you haven't done that here, yet). If you provide the entire story/history, maybe doing so will explain some things better and actually give anyone reading this a better basis on which to give you their suggestions.
