My partner who is in Canada with me is going to apply for a visa extension, he has Diabetes mellitus type 2 (treated by pills and diet) is this a classified "serious disease" that has to be listed in section 14 of the IMM 1249 form?

Thank you for your help.

Uhu,
my hubby(principal applicant) also diagnosed with Type 2 diabetis when we had our medical exams....i'm also so worried that time but God is so good, we are now on " Passport request"...just keep on praying, God will make a way..God bless

passport request sounds encouraging. they usually send passport request after they satisfied both with paperwork and medicals, depending on your visa office location.

diabetes is not an illness that can be passed to other people. it will not harm your application for extension even if you mention it. also they in the visa office know that visitors have to pay for treatment themselves, so they will not be dependened on Canadian free medical service, so there definitely shouldn't be any problem for you.

how about thyroidectomy? due to thyroid cancer? is this still admissable in canada as Permanent Resident or just even tourist visa?

thanks.

hello! i am just getting worried because i am a LC in canada and passed my application for PR with husband and a son, soon i guess they will have their medical, i am worried because my husband has a diabetes type 2 , but controlled and a little bit of heart problem and is taking medication. my question is that would it be a cause of medical inadmissability and refusal of my PR application in canada? when he will have his medical , should we say ahead of time to the DMP that he has a controlled diabetes and is taking medications? will that help? thanks and god bless!

When you attend the medical take a list of all medications, and inform the doctor.
I am not sure about all immigration streams, but for "family spousal" Type 2 is not an issue.

thanks baloo for the info! i will be sponsoring him as my spouse thanks hopefully not an issue
