Dependents Application - Passport expired

Have completed my Canadian application forms and mentioning that my dependents would accompany me. Do you need to provide passport details for dependents at this stage when you are submitting your application to the CIO Sydney.
Initially I have not planned to accompany my dependents, but later changed the plan and want them to accompany me, but unfortunately my dependents passports have expired and renewing them may take ages as the passport machine in Islamabad is out of order which has become a big issue in the country.

Waiting for passport could delay filing the application. Is it possible to provide the dependents passports details once your application is recommended from the CIO Sydney?

I have also read some where that you can apply for your self when submitting application at CIO Sydney and if recommended you can change your dependents status to ACOMPANY & submit there fees while submitting the application at the visa office.

Can anyone please advice?

Write the current passport number for Dependant and when you will receive a file number from CIO then send the file with new passport number with an explanation letter of the situation. But do not leave any field blank as the applicant might be returned.
