Dependent Child Sponsorship - 2026

Hope that you hear something soon. Did you try to reach out to IRCC? I mean it is more than 3 months now on your case and no AOR yet. What's the nationality of the child? I hope the visa office doesn't be the driving factor. In some posts I was reading that there is no inlant processing of the child. Child is always processed outland even if the child is inside Canada.

I sent them Webform 3-4 times and replied to me that they can not find the file on their system, It seems before AOR they can not do anything because the file is not created, I tqlked to MP and he said that it is normal, and if you will not get AOR till end of Jun please let us know to follow up, and ghe nationality is Iranian and outland.

Any idea about which dates are receiving AORs? Applied for my child's sponsorship, US Citizen but the child is living in Canada with us.

@northamericanprodigy I have applied for my kid's PR application as well on April 11th. He's a US Citizen too and we are currently in Canada as well, we can track our timelines and update each other accordingly.

Why is it taking so long for 2026 applications? It’s worrying.

Thiessen are fairly normal processing times. They may have gotten faster for why apppears to be mainly US applicants but has never been a fast process. I know my friend waited around a year for her US born child 1-2 years ago.

Hello members I need suggestion.
The situation is as follows..

I submitted my application independently on January 1 but received a refusal due to a missing signature. My husband suggested we engage a lawyer since we had already lost time. Therefore, we proceeded with the application through a lawyer.

Currently, the tracker indicates two files: one is closed, which pertains to my initial application, and the other is active.

There are no updates on the active file, but I am receiving updates on the closed file, such as eligibility being completed and other details.

What should I follow or do to rectify this ?

I went Application for my Dependent Child om Jan.12.2026 since then it was not any response, I never received AOR and I have checked everyday my email and its junk even when I called them several times they said that they can not for the application, but suddenly today I received Finger Print Request and Medical Request with application number in two separated email, and the status is now in Progress for Background Check, Finger Print and Medical and Elgibility not yet start, byt Did not received AOR yet

Oh good. That's a great development. It ought to be on path even if AOR was not received. I did read in various forums, sometimes AOR email is not triggered. May be it was in backlog and everything churned up quickly. Good to hear that all cases here are moving forward. My application sent date is 24th March... I think I should be hearing from them may be in a month or two. Good luck for the process.

I applied in Feb and received AOE on March 21st. Today, I received an email stating for biometrics as my kid is under 14 he doesn’t require. Having said that, what is expected after this?
The application is within Canada for my US born kid

Feb 18, 2026 - AOR received
Mar 05, 2026 - Sponsorship eligibility in progress
April 15, 2026 - Sponsorship eligibility approved

1-year-old child (outland application).

Do you know what are the next steps after Eligibility approved? Mine is in progress since April
