Hi every one,

I have applied as skilled worker and I am Dental surgeon and working currently as dental health care administrator.
My phase 1 for immigaration is near completion,
please share your experience about practicing dentistry in canada
I know for abroad BDS degrees we can get job as dental hygienist only, please confirm if this is true and we have to enroll for training to complete DDS.

Hi Brill:
What I can tell you is that to be able to work as a dentist , you first need to pass an eligibility examination, after take a 2 year of school dentistry program for international trained dentists, but I can tell you this 2 years are very expensive. About working as a dental hygienist they usually ask for a certification, I'm speaking for every job search I've done. What I think one as a dentist can work is as a dental assistant. I would like to belive that If I get lucky probably a dentist could let me work as a dental hygienist, not sure about that.
I plan to study for dental hygienist, since dental school is way too expensive, or probably try for student loans.

hello,

I see everyone mentioning only as expensive and costly for the 2 years or 4 yrs program.

Having gone thru the procedures already - why dont people share the real cost in CAD? it would be helpful if people can afford

what gigab said is said is correct, work as a dental assistant make money or borrow money on very low rate prime plus+1 (but try to work during your studies), Take OSAP use grant and save the loan of OSAP in an account because for professional qualifications OSAP is expensive (as banks offer lower rates for MBA/Dentist/Medical/or other professional programs, where as OSAP has standard rate). If you excelled in your studies with good marks looks for funding opportunities. There are options vast options for to succeed but the only con is a couple of year tough life in early days. Which lots of immigrants don't want to do, the opportunity cost looks high but its not that high.

hi,
iam a dentist from India
have applied for PR to canada
reading all ur views u guys are saying its easy to get jobs as dental assistant
how does one go about finding these jobs, dont we require any Canadian/US degree to qualify working as dental assistant
so does this mean we can skip the stage of survival jobs which most immigrants undergo and land jobs as dental assistants and then plan our future course of action
any inputs will be very helpful

has anyone u know from india or from non accredited dental programs have been employed as dental assistants?
please reply

hello colleague, it's nice to have a thread like this it gives us ideas and also gives a lot of help. my wife and i are planning to fly this august to british columbia. i'm a dentist and wanted to become a dental assistant. i saw some job posting as dental assistant in vancouver. it says there that credentials such certificates, licenses, membership, courses etc.. are not required. so, does it mean that i can apply immediately on their job posting? thanks and have a nice day to all.. :D
