Most people have dental through their employer but whichever insurance you might buy, it will not cover you immediately. You might have to wait 3 months, maybe longer before you can start using it. The reason is, they don't want you to buy insurance, rack up bills they have to pay and then cancel it when you are done.
As for the cost of tooth extraction, I have no idea. You should ask a few dentists and see what they say.
