Delay in sending Passport after `Ready to visa`. Is just emailing them enough?

Hi Guys,

Last night I received my ready to visa mail from cpc ottawa. And they have asked me to send them my passport within 30 days which would end on 26th July.
I am going out of country on a vacation from 10th July to 26th July 2015. I need to request them a delay in my sending them my passport.
My question is, is emailing CPC Ottawa enough for requesting this delay or do I need to do something more?
Has anyone ever had experience like this before? Or, what would you recommend?

Thanks,
S.

a silly answer, is it possible to you to put off your vacations or at least travel for less days, in order that
you could send your passport on time?.

if not possible I hope you could manage to get your extension.

good luck

It's too late to do either (put off or travel less) since all reservations are already made and tickets booked. Any change in plan will cost me a lot of financial burden.
I have already sent them a mail. I hope it's fine. I just need another 2 days on top of 30 days for me to send my passport and for it to reach there.

Send your passport on Monday and write letter that you have travel plans and please send your iternary so that you will get your passport back by Next Monday. As one of my friend has got his passport in 3 days as he was travelling to his home country.

Nice. I love how you prioritize things. Your future or a few hundred dollars and some off time ;D
Thanks for the unrequired oversmart comment. This is my and my girlfriends first over seas trip together and we have been planning and saving for it for some months. My girlfriend already dropped a course because of a conflict with this. The loss would be a few thousand dollars (for both of us together) for any change in flights or cancellation of reservations.

I am still open to cutting it short or putting it off but only if any other possibility doesn't exist and hence this forum and this post.

Sending it earlier is still risky of just in case it doesn't return in time. I had a friend who received his passport after 3 months.

So I called up CIC call centre today and they asked me if I can't meet the deadline I need to email ottawa visa office with an explanation on why I can't meet the deadline. I already did that and sent them my itinerary, so now just waiting.

Hi saaz87,

Congratulations on your PR.

I now have the similar situation as yours - have pre-arranged travel plan after receiving PPR.

Did you get an extension from CPC Ottawa office?

What did you include in an email to them?

How many extra days did you get ?

Hopefully I could get some insights and advice from you. Help in need :)

Thanks and have a good day.

Frank

@Frankchung and @saaz87 I have a similar situation on hand. How soon after emailing them did you get the extension confirmation? If I can include a letter, will they send it back sooner than the general processing times? Please let me know.
