Delay in Biometric Test : Extension for 30 day timeline

Hi,

My parents visitor visa application was submitted and they received the biometric request today.
Unfortunately they would be unable to submit the passport within 30 days as they are travelling out of country in 3 weeks.
Does IRCC typically accept requests to extend if there are valid reasons?

Any info would be greatly helpful.

Not sure if you got the answer already online. But you are asking two different questions. They need to show the passport at the time of biometrics, not hand it over to them. But if they were approved for a visa, then tehy need to submit the passport to get the visa stamped. Still, in both scenarios, you can submit the webform with a detailed explanation.
Please go to the last page of the biometric letter. It states there that "if you cannot provide your biometric information (photograph and/or fingerprints) or if you needmore than the 30 days, please complete a webform h https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/web-form.html and provide a detailed explanation.
