The approximate remaining NoMs on this forum; Nov 18, Dec 47, Jan 131, Feb 100, Mar 100. More than 50 % are CEC. Do you for see OINP issuing NoMs to all applicants before year end or it will enter 2017. I know it's difficult to speculate.

Fixed deposits can be used as POF. It is just expected that these FDs be in the name of the primary applicant and there is no lock-in period (like a tax saving FD that has a 5 year lock-in period etc).

Who says fixed deposits are not acceptable? I have given my FD as proof of funds as well. The only condition is that is should not be a joint account with someone who is not part of the application.

since we're talking about PoFs: how do you guys gonna present (or not) your Credit cards?

I know the general consensus here is not to mention them, but since we pay the fees with the very same cards and CIC know it, won't that amount to misinterpretation and/or hiding information?

That is not lock-in period. Those are tenures. A regular FD can be broken at anytime without penalty (If it is a 12 month tenure FD, it can be broken in the second month and your principal amount will not be affected). A locked-in FD (such as a tax saver FD) is locked for 5 years and you cannot break the FD before the lock-in period ends (if you do there might be heavy penalty). The former is accepted. The latter is not.

No that won't amount to misrepresentation. Almost all applicants should have seen their file go into the bin if that were the case.

So sorted I don't need to break my FD and transfer my money in my account ...I can show them my fixed deposit if they ask for pof as additional documents... thank you so much ... just waiting for my file to move ahead now

People have submitted bank statement showing debits going towards home loans and got their visas. From my observation of the reports on the forum, IRCC is more inclined to see the amount of funds that you possess than the funds that you owe. If the funds you show are unencumbered, the applicant is good to go, IMO.
