I think major difference is time it takes for background check. For some it's done in 2 days, for others it takes months.

but to your point, mine says BG check completed April/20th and updated April/23rd so not sure....nothing else since then

CPC Surrey and CPC Vancouver is worst office in order to process any application, so many people waiting even from 2019 too.

God knows what they are doing, but all I can say is like they don't process applications in a normal processing time as other processing offices. We should do something about it.

Wow, I still wonder what makes the difference between cases. Some submitted at same or after and done quicker..

it is total non-sense, noone can answer that question. it is like to get a US visa, you never now why you are being refused, or why you are being offered the US visa lol,
it happened to me, i applied for US visa, i got denied, the interviewer LITERALLY told me, today i am not in a mood, come in two days i will issue you the visa.
i applied in two days and same guy issued me the visa.

can someone explain? total non-sense

My indian passport expires june 2022. My Canadian citizenship application is in progress, and only Background check shows "completed",
in the meantime,
If I renew my passport do I need to advise CIC and what do I need to consider at this point.

my passport expires in one month, my pr expires in two i let them know, but they asked me if i am from Afghanistan or no? not sure how it is related, but unless you are from Afghanistan not sure if they care

that is totally with all due respect, hilarious; same guy different day denied and approved. what an upside-down thing...

at this point to be honest not sure what else we can do other than wait. I have never experienced this much delay in any of my previous immigration application processing time.
