Welcome Pz, one of the spreadsheet moderators will add you.

Maria congrats! this is the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR), so now you must wait for the sponsor approval which shouldn't be too much longer. After this they will send your file to the Visa Office.

Well technically it was 28 days on the CIC website, but some people got theirs faster. I'm thinking that due to the Christmas and New year's holidays, things kind of slowed down a bit. I think we will be seeing a lot of activity this week though as it's the first full week after the holidays.

Let's cross out fingers!

Congratulations! It would be 28 days from the date indicated in your AOR. :) Some of us received our SA in as little as 2 weeks. :D So, lets all pray it would be the same for you.

dollinexile, I noticed that many of the Manilla applicants received super fast processing. If you don't mind me asking, is it because of the typhoon that happened some time ago?

Hi all, I have a question. I am also a December applicant, going through Vienna. Looking at the December spreadsheet, I see a lot of people who applied later than me (my application was received by CIC on Dec 3rd) and who already got a Sponsor Approval, AOR or even both.

It's been 34 days now and I haven't heard anything from them. We've been checking our email every day (my husband is the sponsor). There are two other people with a timeline close to mine (33 and 35 days since applying) but both got an AOR and one of them is from Vienna. :'(

Should I worry or is this normal?

People people........ maybe read a few pages back in this thread about time frames such as mine and the wait.
We all get excited when we receive any correspondence from them, but read things as they appear.
When they say "Received", it only means they have received your documents, a good thing. The approval of sponsorship comes next, when whomever is working on it, then after approval, is sent to visa office, where they will eventually begin going through it all.
In my case, I am at 1 year and 6 days, waiting on a simple application to sponsor my wife and 15 year old step daughter from the USA.It's simple, all information was sent in, no issues, nothing serious missing. It was in visa office hands months ago,yet they FINALLY got it to the stage of Processing their file on November 15/2013. Last years strike for 3-4 months had a major impact on many people, so there is still a backlog. I calculate roughly 3 months longer then what was originally 11-12 months, and the thousands of student visas waiting.
Hope it all goes smooth and fast for you all, but don't panic when you don't hear anything for a few months once approved and sent to visa office. It's a waiting game, just make sure you send in everything you can at once, less delays for sure!

Hi Avadava,

I can definitely understand how you must be feeling :( cause I would be freaking out as well. I think it's possible that things need to be straightened out from the holidays.

If CIC's website gets updated and the date of the applications that they are working on has passed Dec 3, then you can call the call center to see if they can locate it. The last updated date was Dec 27th and they are supposed to update weekly, so this should tell you that things are a bit of a mess from the holidays.

Hang in there.

Rice,

I'm sorry that you seemingly simple application got stuck in the backlog. All immigration processes are nerve-wracking. I'm not normally a super obsessive person, but these processes (quebec skilled worker, rehabilitation, family sponsorship) have definitely changed me for the worse lol.

I hope that you hear from them ASAP so that you can move on with your life. Good luck!

Hi Patience09. CIC released a directive to prioritize applications to those new/existing applicants who were DIRECTLY affected by the typhoon (whether they lost their home, belongings, or worse, their loved ones). They do have to go through a process to prove the authenticity of them being a "victim" starting off with their location. I believe, none of us (December applicants) were directly affected by the typhoon. But it is quite noticeable that the process was indeed faster compared to other locations.. I really don't know how they go about it. I think, they (Missasauga Office) expedited applications from the Philippines in general. But I think, they would be able to filter the applications on our Visa Office. Because they will be the first ones to know if the area (where the applicant is residing) was indeed affected by the typhoon.

I encountered an applicant on the Specific Visa Offices thread, whose wife was living in the exact area where the typhoon struck. If I am not mistaken, they were August 2013 applicants, but upon following the steps on the CIC website, they already got to the PPR point as of December 2013. I think our Visa Office (Manila) is the one who's going to decide if the claim is authentic or not.
