Hi All,

A bit late joining, but we mailed our common-law family sponsorship December 19th and according to Canada Post it was delivered on the 22nd. The medical was done on October 28th. We are using the Ottawa visa office. Haven't heard anything yet, gonna be a long 50 days...

Hello!!
Can you please add me to the December spreadsheet!!
I sent my application to sponsor my husband (from the USA) to the Ottawa visa office.
According to Canada Post it arrived on Dec 10, 2012. I received an email of confirmation today (Jan 8,2013) from CIC that they received my application on Dec 11, 2012. He got his medical done in September 2012.
Hopefully we will be getting sponsorship approval soon.. (crosses her fingers).

We did this on our own with no lawyer.. and I am starting to think I over payed my fees.... if that is the case will CIC give me a refund?

Thank you, and good luck to all the other applicants!

Welcome to the thread, and you've been added to the spreadsheet! if you have the precise date for medicals, please let me know and I will correct the spreadsheet.
Congrats on the AOR, it shouldn't be too long before you hear about the approval.
About the fee - indeed they will refund it, they might do it after stage 1, because they're suppose to check that your file is complete at stage 1, and see that you have overpaid.
Good luck,
Sweden

Hey Linleon329,

welcome to the thread! if you want to be added to the spreadsheet ( you can see if in my signature), let me know when you sent it, when you did the medicals, and which visa office you're going through, and I'll include you in the spreadsheet.
Good luck,
Sweden

I'll add you but your timeline will be very different as you're applying inland... so while the outland applicants can/will hear from CIC in 50 days more or less, your first stage is about 6 months for the moment ( some get done before that, but it's rare....maybe 4 months...). You might want to follow the thread for Inland application sent in 2012, it will give you a good idea of what to expect. Here it is http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/inland-applications-2012-t90875.2220.html
good luck, ( and congrats on the pregnancy!)

When does E-cas actually update its record having received sponsorship approval? Guess it can take up to a few days before that happens.

from a few days to a week or ten days, it really depends... but it eventually catches up with the decision made! then you'll have a "DM" on the sponsorship part, and you can start obsessing about the other one - application for PR part...
It will most likely only state "your application has been received on xx/xx/xxxx" ( and it will have the Mississauga date, not the one when it got to the VO), and maybe a little later you'll have an extra line saying "medicals have been received" - it means that your file most likely has made it to the VO and they have matched your medical records with your file.
Good luck!

Yes it still says app received on Dec. 3 so I await their update even though it's the PR part that's of interest now having rec'd the approval.
